PawHusky

Good 'ol Pawhuska Oklahoma.  Named after the great Osage chief, this city boasts of it's thriving meth use and that it may or may not have been the city where the first US Boy Scout troop was formed.  Well for whatever its history was or is, it does have a concrete skatepark, with tranny.  I was lucky enough to visit the park with a skateboard buddy, Brad, AKA Sharkbait Brad.  The one and only co-owner of Smash Skates, and the "dipshit" (his words), behind the Sharkbait zine.  Good stuff if you haven't read a copy.  Our day began with some brutal Oklahoma wind sweeping across the park, and coping that sits just a little too low.  But whatever, we skated and had fun.  We also got to meet a few local kids, one of them being Bailey.  Bailey got to the park right after school let out, and was packing his, what looked to be fresh out the package, Almost deck.  Bailey stood around awhile watching Brad and I attempting to get some tricks in the bowl, then he broke out some sweet ollies for us to judge.  See video.  The mumbling at the first is Bailey explaining that his name is Bailey and he is from Pawhuska.  Right after our little ollie sesh with Bailey some of his friends came walking up asking him, "Why he ain't playing no more sports?  I mean ain't you still gonna play basketball even?"  I then informed the kids that Bailey was on to bigger and better things--skateboarding.  The kids stayed for a few more minutes, cheering Brad on as he got a tailslide to fakie?  I think.  Then the kids walked off.  We stayed another twenty minutes, trying to get some tricks.  Then headed home to rest our bones.

Bienvenidos!

I be bloggin.  I be bloggin.  Watch that dude he'll bust your noggin!  Or something like that.  A brief introduction to a blog I will probably forget about in six months and forget to post anything to after several weeks:

Hello, my name is Derek.  I love skateboarding, music, books, food, air, plants, relationships, and lots of other stuff that you probably love too.  I plan on using this blog to share just a itty bit of my existence, and my completely heterosexual love for skateboarding.  I'm getting ready to go surf my sidewalks, so...I gotta GO.
